Lectures on Reading Capital: A Much Needed Education for Would-Be Radicals

Please see my previous post (https://radicalresponse.org/2017/07/17/marx-capital-and…017-david-harvey/) for my reasons for posting this. Needless to say, I’m of the opinion that the movement to resist and defeat capitalism and the 1% would do well to understand and utilize much of Marx’s analysis and methodology. Critical analysis and thought require thoughtful, serious work and intellectual energy, but the rewards are more than academic – they are necessary for the development of any truly radical and useful theory and practice. David Harvey is no mere ideologue or apologist for Marxism. Nor is he some throw-back dogmatic old-school leftist. He not only masterfully brings Marx into the 21st century, he capably explains, adapts, and in some cases corrects Marx’s original groundbreaking analysis and critique of capital. He not only breaks down the sometimes difficult concepts making Marx more understandable, but also shows how powerful the Marxist analysis of capital truly is. In so doing, he shows that Marx is STILL a potent and necessary weapon in any radical’s arsenal.
